The Mr. and Mrs. of Prairie Hill Farm
Two souls with but a single thought, two hearts that beat as one.
~Friedrich Halm
Welcome to Prairie Hill Farm!
My name is Carol, I live in America, Land of the free, home of the brave. I will be writing about farm life not from the point of view of
an experienced or skilled farm wife, but from that of a
committed dilettante. In other words, I am an eager tenderfoot.
Falling into farmlife rather than jumping into it is what brought me to this
point in my life. I was raised in a 'small' city in northern Minnesota where
the air is cold and the waters run deep. Corn fields were few and far between.
It was actually on September 11,2001 (We Will Never Forget) that I moved from
the pristine lakes of Minnesota to the Metropolis of Indiana. My life had
changed that day, and will never be the same. Through laughter and tears, it has
been a wonderful adventure. I met my 'new' husband and we were married on
December 18, 2011. We recently inherited the family homestead in northwestern
Indiana. Taking up residence at the farm was a no brainer for us. With my
husband being raised there and not wanting to lose it, and me having that
lifelong dream to live in the country, we chose to start renovating the one
hundred plus year old farmhouse. The reno has begun but, it is nowhere near
being finished, and we haven't moved out there permanently yet. This blog is
going to take us all through the journey of what it is like to go from city life
to a life in the country never before experienced by a dilettante such as
myself. The whole rollercoster ride will be here in black and white and color,
to learn from, share with, and rejoice in knowing that we are not alone in an
adventure such as this. From the design, reno, shopping, to the decorating,
gardening, baking, and adding farm animals. My blog will have it all, the good,
the bad, and the ugly. It will be the love that brought us here to what get's us
through that will shine through every post. Jesus is my Lord and Saviour. I
know that this home is only temporary, my forever home is in Heaven with my
Father. To keep me going my strength must come from Him. He blessed me with
three beautiful children, and my husband, also, with three. We have so much to
be thankful for. But, our life here isn't over yet. We have a farm to restore.
So, pick up a cup of coffee or tea and settle in to my blog with me. I am
going to try to post every Friday. If you like what you see, or don't like what
you see, please share that with me. I want to hear from you. Your comments are
priceless, and my friendship is free.
